>>108 i think its more the fact that the eyes are placed slightly too high on the face that makes her lower face look a bit over sized, i also think the hair line needs to be slightly lower, that or you could bring the jawline up a bit.her mouth also seems a tad warped or off somehow, i think it might be stretched a little too far to the right.

>>172That'll be done via color.I'm fleshing out lines right now, then I'll be inking them in Sai (and probably saving it all to a flash drive because I'm tired of losing my work) and coloring it there, except for the pants and vest, because they're leather and I can do that texture easier in Photoshop.
me and kriegs are planning on creating a manga, and submitting it to a publishing company.so here we shall post design sketches and ideas for plot setting etc.(to the left we have some designs for ears and antlers for the elves. i'm not sure if the antlers should be smaller or not.)

>>154I like the shape of the magazine myself--I figure, the bullets are designed to work with that shape, and since we don't usually see them, we don't have to explain until we do some more ballistics research. Which is always, always Later.
Allow me to take the moment to say that the two of you are fucking awesome.
>>154>>157The curvature of the magazine is based on the shape of the round, especially the rounds that fire supersonic ammunition, or high calibur rounds. For example, the British .303 round in the picture. If you compress the rounds in a magazine (as magazines are comprised of a spring, a plate to stack the ammunition on, and housing to hold the ammunition in place; they work by spring compression to feed the rounds into the chamber) the bullets are going to start to develop a curve to their stack due to the shape of the round. Now, this being said, you can only press so hard on the stacked bullets before they start to slip and form that curved path. Using a crescent shaped magazine built on the curvature the bullets develop when stacked, and you can house more rounds. Not only that, it's a bit more stylish. Crescent shaped magazines are built around practically housing more rounds per magazine. Sure, you can use a regular vertical stack magazine, but you'll only be able to put so much ammunition in before the bullets start to slip and jam the magazine. tl;dr : they stack more naturally and you can have more ammunition in a crescent magazine than a straight one.Edit: Also, if your magazine is backwards, then the bullets must be constructed backwards - smaller rear chamber, larger round. And that just doesn't make sense, unless you're planning on building long, large subsonic rounds. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text. Last edited 08/07/03(Thu)01:05.

>>159Actually it depends on the ammunition type - 5.56 and 7.62 NATO for instance have a parallel-sided cartridge and so will stack in a vertical column, whereas 7.62x39 Russian has an angled cartridge and will only stack in a curve. And 7.62x54 Russian has a cartridge that's both angled and with a wide rim at the back, so the rounds have to stack in an offset fashion as well.A nice website for weapon information by the way is http://world.guns.ru Last edited 08/07/03(Thu)04:21.

>>159thanks, that was very informative. do you have any suggestions as to what type i should use? we're going for about WW1 equivalent military technology, possibly more advanced silencing though. since it would be focused on more strongly since the best chance humans would have to kill a fairy would be to kill it before it notices you, and is able to construct any form of magical barrier or something.
>>158thanks, glad your liking it so far.
another thing i've been wondering, is how a revolver looks when being reloaded, i've seen pics where the top is flipped to face down and the revolver is then loaded and flipped up again and locked into firing position, and i've seen ones that the revolver is simply pulled out of the side of the gun, loaded, and flipped back in. which one would be best for WW1 era technology, and does anybody have some pics of guns in the reloading process i could use as reference?

I think both have coexisted in the same time frame, so it really depends on what you want it to look like when they're reloading. personally, I think the top-loading revolver would be somewhat easier to draw, but it's been quite some time since I've done any work on projectile weapons, and usually their physics and working were naturally built upon different mechanics given the story I was working on.
>>167http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg105-e.htm - side -opening cylinder examplehttp://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg49-e.htm - Vertical break-open exampleA vertical break-open design would cause problems for longer-barrelled weapons. (Note that for easy reloading, a handgun with a side-opening cylinder should have the cylinder fold out to the left and a carbine or rifle should have it fold out to the right.)Revolvers by their nature will leak gases from the gap between cylinder and barrel, thus making them hard to silence. There's one revolver design I know of (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg194-e.htm)- a Russian model with an integral silencer and special ammunition - where the cylinder swivels out horizontally at an angle. This is part of the design that ensures a tighter gap between the barrel and cylinder to hinder gases from escaping. Last edited 08/07/04(Fri)05:18.
