Have you guys heard of this 'My Japanese Coach' game for DS coming out soon? Here's the GameFAQs board:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/gentopic.php?board=950647
and if you look on the board for 'My Study Recommendations. (Materials, guide etc)' posted by Ankh Morpork, you will find a topic packed with information and resources for studying Japanese.

Best kanji / waei dictionary is www.jisho.org
Best dictionary for advanced learners is dic.yahoo.co.jp
Best word usage dictionary is www.alc.co.jp

Best place to start learning is www.guidetojapanese.org. It's superior.

Does anyone know of a site simillar to www.kanjisite.com but that isn't structured according to JLPT levels and that offers some more friendly search system? I've yet to find something to my liking.

Okay guise, don't mean to make people panic about this, but Desuchan's only got about 3 months of paid hosting left.

This is a call to everyone of Desuchan. We need to band together to help offset the cost of the server for this year, so Desuchan can continue to exist.
If you have anything you can spare, please donate it via this link. All proceeds go towards keeping the server online and Desuchan alive.

Ads will also be up soon to help offset the cost, but it's very doubtful that they'll cover the complete costs. Until now, Weedy's been covering the server costs, but he lost his job.

It looks like Desuchan doesn't have that many Japanese moonspeakers, but we do seem to have a number of other languages represented. What languages do you speak, read, or potentially translate from?

For me, it's French; je suis un Desuchanneur francophone (bien qu'on ne trouve pas tellement de demande de traduction pour les B.D's francophones dans ce genre d'endroit...)

English and a little Spanish. I could make do translating Spanish to English with a dictionary.

I'm Majoring in international studies and minoring in Japanese at the University of Boston. It's enough for most animu/games, I'm graduating spring 2009.

So, I guess you could say I'm one of the few moonspeakers here.

A simillar case to mine, I'm natively portuguese speaking and ended up learning english out of necessity (of being able to understand what was being said on games, mostly online diablo).
And in a simillar manner, I'm now trying to learn japanese to, among other things, be able to play videogames.

English obviously.

A little bit of moonspeak, but not enough to translate or anything serious. I live through Firefox's addon Perapera-Kun, and look up the kanji using a program called Wakan.

Also my native language, Arabic.

Pic unrelated.

Dear /moonspeak/

How does one differentiate between -
A katakana "shi" (シ) and "tsu" (ツ)
And a katakana "so" (ソ) and "n" (ン)

>> No.448   [Delete]   [Edit]

How does one differentiate between "a" and "d" and "q" and "g"?

By seeing them a lot, that's how.

シ line is drawn down left - top right
ツ line is drawn top right - down left
same goes for so and n

For シ, I think that she's smirking at me for whatever reason.
For ツ, it seems a tsundere is smiling at me.
For ソ, I think about リ, and ン looks like a y to me.

Hello Desuchan: I was wondering if someone would translate: http://rapidshare.com/files/159152108/_Astronomy__Anata_ga_Suki_nano___partial_trans.zip

I already have a partial translation, (done by Narmi of AnimeSuki), and this is included in a file in the zip. Could someone complete it please.

Thanks,

also, what do you mean by connections? context? I'm pretty sure the first one was a stand-alone comic... I can try trolling the moonweb some more to find similar ones, but can't guarantee I'll find anything.

As far as I've seen, there is at least one more panel. I'll look into it.
Dunno, but art style reminds me of something I've seen on Unyuunymous' comic page.

Another one here. Still not sure where they come from originally, I'm getting them off the Rozen Uploader :/
that being said, they seem to look a little like the ones from Mada Mikansei no HP:

It says : Moukou shite yaru no ~da wa
Which means something like either "I like doing this too(or already)" or "Do you enjoy doing this already/yet?" But I am not sure at all.

真紅玉!!!!!

アカイわ!!
It's red!!

たしかにすごくアカイわ!!!!
Without a doubt, it's incredibly red!!!!

Not sure what that last kanji is... I'm guessing the furigana should replace it.

>> No.435   [Delete]   [Edit]

I do not believe that is furigana at all. The page reads in moonrunes:

>真紅玉!!!!!
>
>アカイわ!!
>たしかに超すごくアカイわ!!!!
>オチはないよ

Hm, I think you're right. The placement of the kana is kinda weird. Nevertheless, that kanji doesn't seem like it affects my translation much.

>オチはないよ

Oops, missed this one. I think this says "There is no punch line."
