It looks like Desuchan doesn't have that many Japanese moonspeakers, but we do seem to have a number of other languages represented. What languages do you speak, read, or potentially translate from?

For me, it's French; je suis un Desuchanneur francophone (bien qu'on ne trouve pas tellement de demande de traduction pour les B.D's francophones dans ce genre d'endroit...)

I KNOW ENGLISH LOL

But really... I took 4 years of Spanish or so and am rusty, am studying Japanese, and my study of German is currently on-hold(I never got too far, unfortunately). Only thing I'm fluent in is English, even though I love languages. :(

>> No.15   [Delete]   [Edit]

Since I'm in Canada, I have been taught French from kindergarten to grade 9. I also have 4 years of Latin, 2 years of German, 1 year of Arabic, 1 year Russian and 1 year of Hindi.

So I can probably translate French, German, and Latin easily, but I'll probably need to used my dictionaries for the other ones.

>> No.16   [Delete]   [Edit]

Italian, since it's my first language. Because of similarities I can usually manage to understand the overall meaning of sentences in Spanish and French.

I'm also planning on studying German, for now I know just as much as you pick up by going there on holiday almost every year.

Russian as a native language. да, это так.

It seems someone's doing a Russian translation of Tale 2. From what I can see they aren't done, but if you can do a script from Russian to English of what they've done we can start on an English scanlation.

Yeah, I can usually understand 75% of the meanings of sentences in Spanish, and some of Italian too. Romance languages FTW.

>> No.68   [Delete]   [Edit]

Russian and French...

Also, I'm a newfag here... I finished both of the anime seasons... what is "tale 2"?

>>19

I'll translate it if you link me to Tale 1 or whatever. And if I like it I'll translate 2 into English.

As an example... here is the second slide (I'm too lazy to photoshop the text out in the first one) translated...

Are you sure this isn't in English yet?

Tale 2 is Chapter 2 of the restart of the Rozen Maiden manga. Used to be "Phase #" but now its "Tale #" so far.

I speak Dutch as my first language. After that it gets a bit fuzzy.

I can understand and read Spanish and speak some related languages. I'm quite proficient at German, I can read, understand and write French properly, although my speech is somewhat horrible. I can understand a bit of Italian as well.

I'm trying to learn Japanese, but I'm not fast enough in it. I'm far enough to understand Raws if I have to.

I'm from Peru, so I speak Spanish, but also I speak english and a bit of french.

Obviously, because I watch anime, I know some phrases in japanese -_-

>> No.93   [Delete]   [Edit]

I speak english and some German, I lol at some of the "german" they use in the anime. "Rozen Maiden" = German? Nigga please.

>> No.101   [Delete]   [Edit]

I speak Finnish, my first language, and English as my second language. ENGRISH I say. I studied Swedish (everyone has to) and German in middle school, but I bet I couldn't buy a ticket in railway station in Berlin or Stockholm even if my life depended on it. I also have a textbook for Japanese but I'm stuck in chapter 5.

>> No.102   [Delete]   [Edit]

I know English, French, German, Latin, Spanish and Hindi. I can also recognize a few Japanese phrases from watching too much anime (if there is such a thing) and I'm hoping to start Korean this summer since I'm going there next spring. These aren't actually useful languages, but I know Klingon (Star Trek), Quenya (Lord of the Rings), and Loxian (Enya). I'm a serious languagefag.

This.

I also speak Viet and Singlish. Korean's next on the list once I'm done with Jap.

Fuck yes Asia.

Where did you learn Quenya? I've been interested in learning one of Tolkien's languages for a while now, particularly the one that is inscribed on the ring. However I've never found any of resources I discovered comprehensible and they all presumed that I was familiar with the structure of Tolkien's languages, which I'm not. Any chance that you can provide a link that will point me in the right direction.

Never knew you speak the Singaporean creole of English.

Anyway,I speak my native Malay and English with equal fluency. I know the most basic of Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish and am looking to sharpen up on those two languages and am aiming to learn Japanese, French, Italian and some obscure languages like Basque. Man, I do aim to be a polyglot.

Portuguese as my native language and English. Learned English alone with vidiya gaems, dictionary, etc. The English taught in brazilian schools sucks.

Me impressiona não ver mais ninguém que fale português aqui.

>> No.182   [Delete]   [Edit]

English and Japanese. Probably more in the future, although I'd have to be really interested in them. An English based language would be a lot easier to learn than Japanese was I guess, so it shouldn't be too hard. Then again, I didn't learn Japanese by studying it, I just watched way too much animu and eventually started using it online once I had absorbed a good amount of words. Now I write letters to a couple people and talk with them here or there in Japanese. I may be too lazy to actually study a language.

I envy you fuckers who grew up around multiple languages.

Swedish is my first language. I also understand norwegian and danish because our languages are very similar. Studied spanish for a few years but I haven't put it to good use for a few years. As rusty as I am, I think I'd be able to make do if I had a dictionary. It's my vocabulary that's been suffering, not my grammar.

>> No.242   [Delete]   [Edit]

Native language:spanish.(Mexico)
I also know English and Italian.
Right now I'm learning Latin, after that is Gaelic and Irish. My goal is to learn all dead/dying tongues.

English and a little Spanish. I could make do translating Spanish to English with a dictionary.

I'm Majoring in international studies and minoring in Japanese at the University of Boston. It's enough for most animu/games, I'm graduating spring 2009.

So, I guess you could say I'm one of the few moonspeakers here.

A simillar case to mine, I'm natively portuguese speaking and ended up learning english out of necessity (of being able to understand what was being said on games, mostly online diablo).
And in a simillar manner, I'm now trying to learn japanese to, among other things, be able to play videogames.
