In the root, we have all of these main folders. I think it's better to just have them all available from the get-go rather than having to make two selections before you can get anywhere.

By doing the above, it's kept consistent, and the relevant information is always available in the name. Further, it means that multiple translations of the same doujin can be distinguished.

As for filenames, the only issue is for series. If they span multiple chapters, their filename should be something like series_v1c2p3.jpg to maintain the heirarchy. Then if someone likes, they can move all the JPGs into the root folder for a continuous doujin. That means they don't need to retarget a new file every time they finish the chapter, which keeps reading smooth.

I've been putting a lot of thought into webcomics, and of them in regard to this collection.

I could use a little more input regarding them but first I'd like to put in my two cents.

Lately I've been ripping all the Rozen Maiden content off various sites (starting with the sites Unyuunymous translated the comics of). This includes the illustrations and doujin (actually webcomics in this context) alike.

Doujin funded by a publisher and webcomics are on two completely different levels. This is why it was suggested that the two groups be seperated.

However, I would like to refrain from putting in webcomics in the doujin torrent entirely. The first reason is because it's website content, something I feel much more comfortable putting in a folder for Artist/Website Collections (Multiple subfolders for each sites different webcomics and illustration (sets)).

My second reason is the fact that doujin is released as a definitive set. Here are all the pages in the set, they're all here and there will never be more unless we release a seperate doujin (under a different name to be given its own folder later). All the while many webcomics are in a (sometimes permanent) state of "standby, this is to be continued."

Finally, as I hinted at earlier, webcomic material is often inferior to the finely crafted pages of a circle-funded doujin.

tl;dr: Webcomics, if included, will be getting their own series. I, however, would prefer to refrain from including them.

This puts the tentative hierarchy at

Once I have the translated copy of a doujin I don't go near the original moon-runed version, and I'm certain no one else here does either.

I vote we should exclude the superfluous untranslated versions of our translated doujins. It's hardly any different than keeping duplicates of the same image.

Rather, it's like keeping two folders of images. The first folder cotnains high res images, and the second contains the same images but with lower resolutions.

If you decide to go with the above, here's a few ideas with naming the folders.

• Prefix a [P] tag or something similar for folders in the root directory that are official materials.
• "Untranslated Doujin" or "Doujin (RAW)." Depending which way you go, you will intrisically group the root directory folders either by type or translation. (At least, if arranging by Name.)
• Definitely need a readme.txt in the root directory to explain a few things. You'd have to be crazy AND stupid to leave this out.

Allright, after enough time, thought, and various threads in 4chan's /a/ dedicated to the question, I have come to a several conclusions.

The folders per individual doujin will be formatted as [Artist name][Doujin name].

The solution to the problem "how do I now find a doujin with a particular name if they're not ordered by name?" is as simple as Ctrl+F

The four main folders aside, we will have a seperate folder for the official manga and another for the translated manga AT LEAST from Tale 1 and onwards (plus how to make a girl).

Whether or not it will include the translated manga from Birz will be for us to decide.

The manga re-release with the additional colored pages is nowhere to be found yet so I won't put any consideration into it.

For the sake of pragmatisim, I will also be releasing Webcomics. The alternative is to wait until I rip enough (read: all) websites of their illustrations and webcomics and waiting until that time would put a damper on things for everyone else.

Unyuunymous is responsible for about 99% of the webcomic translations that exist so the folder is being named after him.

To be honest I don't feel like making a txt file for all the doujin I have. Writing one would also delay this project a ton. Ergo, fat chance of it happening.

Now it's time for a real question that's been bugging me for quite awhile now.

The picture here is the cover of a mango, whose kanji are pronounced "Beni Shin." Translated, this means True Crimson or rather True Shinku (Shinku's name = Crimson).

What I'm asking is what I should name the folder/call the doujin.

1. The Kanji (However you type the kanji in)
2. The pronounced Kanji (Beni Shin)
3. English Translation (True Shinku)

I strongly oppose naming the folder anything other than the third choice. If we're putting all the doujin in one torrent we ought to let the reader know what the title means.

With this in mind I'll need a little help naming the doujin. I'll be relying on the doujin database for nearly all my information. However, there are a few unnamed doujin which I'll need a translation for.

It's the simplest translation I can think of, usually ranging between two to five words. In fact, if you could just use rosetta stone to create the kanji in the title that would be good enough. (I could use the physical kanji and look up the definition myself, piece together what it likely means, etc.)

The plan right now is to make a rar, one folder per each doujin I don't know the title of. Each folder contains the title page and any other necessary pages (usually just one, probably never more than three).

Any comments, etc?

I don't suggest using the actual kanji because this can fuck up for some people without moonspeak support. How about something like "True Shinku (Beni Shin)" or vice versa? Because most people refer to a doujinshi's name by the original title... Oh, and I can help seed. I've got a monster connection.

As for actual materials, the picture attached is all my pornographic RM doujinshi(most are untranslated). As you can see, I have in the title its content('delicious' is Souseiseki and Suiseiseki yuri). Under 'faek,' are fake translations of DANCING DOLL, Little Princess, Pygmalion Complex III, and Pygmalion Complex V.

And then this is other Rozen Maiden materials that are non-pornographic(most ARE translated). Under "Original Manga," I have the whole original series raw, volumes 6-8 in English(because I now have a tangible copy of the first five), How to Make a Girl(untranslated), Tale 1 translated, and tale 2-3 raw(I'm working on finalizing Tale 2 translation, actually).

Shit, I forgot one thing... I have scans of the Edel Rose artbook with some other official art scans thrown in. (I would've edited my post, but hello, XML parsing error!)

Okay, I've finally collected all the doujin I can on my own, so it's time to begin the next step.

My main directory is set to view -> Thumbnails. From there, I right click each folder, go to properties, the customize bar (third over) and then I choose the title page of each to represent the folder.

This makes it very easy to tell which doujin is which when I'm naming them and telling others which doujin I have. Using just names is between difficult and impossible, but if you have pictures to compare then it's relatively simple.

First on my list is to release jpgs of my directories. At this point you'll know what's in the collection, and if you look at your own we'll be able to tell what our collective has that isn't yet in the to-be upload.

Next I'll be using the images and be doing some research with Doujin Database, finding some artist names and title pages.

BAD NEWS, half the doujin they have in the database are unnmaed, so we're gonna have a bit of difficulty. GOOD NEWS, even the unnamed doujin tend to somehow have the name of the artist, so I'll be able to handle most names. We'll just need to come up with the appropriate titles.

You know, I don't know how this is going to turn out. Here's an example.

Luckily this brings me up to another point I've been pondering.

Often doujin titles will only use one syllable when referring (loosely) to a character. For instance, "Jade" clearly refers to Suiseiseki.

For this instance, and those later on, shall we go with the literal translation of "Covered in Jade" or the inferred translation "Covered in Suiseiseki"?

I'm leaning towards the former, with an accompanied txt explaining a few brief details, namely the translated names of the dolls and maybe some other scant details.

For instance, Suiseiseki's name 翠星石 is composed of three kanji characters. The first doesn't mean jade, it's midori (green). The second has a few definitions, like star, comet, planet, generally a stellar object. The final is rock.

This presents another problem for naming doujin. The "official" translation for the first part of Suiseiseki's name is Jade, but out of context it means Green.

So what's Suidarake guys, covered in green or covered in jade?

One of the last three pages in a doujin commonly has information about who wrote it etc.

Usually the top is the title, followed by the publisher, the date of publication, something, email, and website.

What I want to know is what that something is.

The name "Toshi Hiroshi" is written next to Charm, which is the circle that produces his manga (I'm nearly certain it's a one-man production).

What I want to know is what the information in the middle is. entering in Kanji on a keyboard is beyond me, so I need someone else to do it.

There have been instances where doujin is given a title in Japanese and English, usually these are the same thing.

I did, however, come across an instance where the Japanese and English titles were completely different. Jp: Shoujou Ningyo (Girl Doll) En: Romantic Sentai Kensa 2006.

Chances are, anyone speaking English and not japanese will just title the folder under the English name. This being the case, I will not include the Japanese titles on any doujin whose two titles differ across language.

Progress: Somewhere between a third and a half titling.

Next steps: Comparing doujin, pooling our doujin into a torr/rar, and finally uploading.

Remember earlier when I was talking about segments of doll name's in titles?

The segment's of Suiseiseki's name are easily broken down into "jade" "star" and "stone"

Each word is very easy to handle, one syllable, etc. However, remember that earlier I specified that the first character "jade" actually means green.

Similarly, Souseiseki's name ( 蒼星石 ) is Blue Star stone, as opposed to Lapis Lazuli Stone"

The preference for Jade over Green is clear. However, the preference becomes much foggier in regard to Souseiseki's name.

There are quite a few doujin with the Japanese character 蒼 in them. Because that character is so plentiful I'll be using the word Blue as its translation.

tl;dr Blue is over nine thousand times more effective to say than "lapis lazuli" so the titles with the character 蒼 (first character in Sou's name) will be translated as Blue.

Plus, I didn't even know what Lapis lazuli was until I wikipedia'd it in reference to Sou some years ago.

I've run into a couple doujin that are actually collaborations. Typically I'll include all the names, but when six+ people work on a doujin it becomes ridiculous.

I'm going to include the name of the biggest contributor and include "et al." to reference that a bunch of people worked on it.

There are two ways of deciding who did the most. List the first person in the "credits section" of the doujin, and second, research how much RM work each artist did.

Finally, to give proper credit without clogging up folder names, each of the few folders with many authors will include a txt/document citing each author.

UPDATE: I'm thinking I'm at the halfway point, but there are very likely many doujin in our collection not present in the database.

I'm powerless to research anything unless I have the kanji typed up on the screen, so I'll be relying on everyone's help (YES THAT MEANS YOU) to finish what's been worked on extra-hard.

The title of this doujin is in kanji and romaji. The title is Sakurada Fuamaria.

The first half hurrr durrr, but the second half is one of two things.

Family or Familia. If not for the very last romanji character in the title it would doubtlessly be "Family"

The "a" does, however, arbitarily exist, almost as if its spiting me.

This small detail brings me to a mental standstill in regard to naming this.

So what's it going to be /md/. Sakurada Family or Sakurada Familia?

Keep in mind that there are other doujin with letters that don't spell English words, but none that I can think of that spell Spanish words.

I've actually seen a couple translated before, but only as seperate entities. For instance Jun saying
"I bought you some unyuu"

Anyway, update time, I'm so close to the end of DDB I can taste it. This being the case, I have quite a few doujin not contained.

It's not much, the titles by themseleves should be substantually less than any one doujin.

By the way, I'm still working (daily) on the Yahoo Auction Japan RM image collection. I'm up to 4500 so I'll be releasing that along with my doujin collection.

Ok bad news. I'm now out of Doujin database entries.

About half of them are still incomplete. This means they're missing either the artists' name or Title (likely both).

About a tenth have the artist's name and will need collaboration to find the title.

The remaining forty either have no artist name or a non-English title.

What can we do to complete this? Well there are a few things.

Some titles have already been given the appropriate romaji. I'd translate the romaji into English myself but I can't get ahold of a good dictionary/converter for it.

If anyone has any recommendations, then I'd be able to knock out another good chunk of translations.

Looking more closely at the "incomplete" folder, I see that the majority just lack an artist.

Solving this is simple. I'm going to make a rar, one folder per each "incomplete doujin". Included will be the doujin's title page, and the credits page with the word artist beside it.

What I need from our collective is a translation of their names.

The rar will be up in the next couple of days. Until then do we have any volunteers willing to help me finish the formatting?

So I'm having a bit of difficulty now.

There's a doujin, translated awhile ago, named Sou and Bara.

Wouldn't you know it, the doujin is named literally "Blue and Rose" the direct translation for the segments of their names.

This in mind, the character 蒼 will change meaning depending on context. The character will be pronounced "Sou" in the above context because it's very obviously referencing the name. In a context further above the phrase "Blue drops" is more fitting than Sou drops.

Likewise for Suidarake, you can't be covered (as in, covered in mud) by Sui, but you can be covered in (a liquid that's colored) jade. Perhaps there are other instances that prefer Sui over Jade.

tl;dr Sui and Sou won't always equal Jade/Blue. We'll subsitute the romaji version when it clearly references their name.

Work begins on that rar tomorrow.

Can someone direct me to a good romanji dictionary?

DDB gives secondary names to their doujins in Romaji. If I could just define those words then I'd cut down on the unfinished work by a landslided amount.

As I continued to work with this material, I questioned harder the legitimacy of Author/Illustrator > Producer/Presenter.

Then a momentary standstill arose when I pondered "what of the doujin with no artist, but just a producer!?"

I though, "man, it'd look akward if I had a bunch of artists with a couple producers.

I continued thinking when I came to a conclusion. I asked myself "why is it that I'm writing the artists in the first place?" Well the answer is simple, I want to organize doujin by recognizable art style.

As I said in another thread, I'm a big fan of the art-style of a particular artist. Sorting by artist enables me to quickly find the remainder of the doujins drawn in such a way.

The goal here isn't to "find the artist of every last Doujin" but to bring together similarly-drawn doujin/credit those who we can (within reason/those who state their names).

And so I've decided that for the doujin without an artist I will cite the Circle prior to the title.

tl;dr Doujin without an artist to name will be [cited] with the circle responsible for funding/producing it.

Still /r/ing that romaji dictionary.

DDB lists authors in English in Last name First name order, so that's what I'm doing for the collection.
