Just out of the box from China. Holy crap this thing is complicated..and the instructions on how to transform it from one mode to the next are in Moon so I am doing the best I can..but it is made of win. Last edited 08/06/25(Wed)05:21.

And from the back. I'll take some more pics once I get it in flight form.
Looks like Key the Metal Idol.. it's a snap kit?
>>74ಠ_ಠThis is Otoha Sakurano from Sky Girls. Though I see the resemblance in the figure, it's not -that- bad (meaning vacant empty staring into space) ;) This is a fully-poseable action model that required no assembly, similar to my Gally/Alita action figure.
>>75Ah, I see. I actually saw part of the first episode of sky girls, but it didn't look like something for me. The model is kinda cool though.
Reijin "Zero" in G-mode (Glide) or flight mode. This was pretty difficult to get to, and I don't think I've got it fully correct, but its close enough.

From the side
Head-on
Closer shot of Otoha as she pilots Reijin. I'll most likely pull it back into mecha mode and that's how they'll remain, at least until I get Raijin (Eika), whereupon I will have them pose next to each other, fight with each other, and so forth. Or something.
Can you separate Otoha from Zero?
>>117ROFL, that's awesome. Very nice Pachira too! I am hoping somehow they eventually come out with a Liru, which I will promptly attempt to own.
I have that Pachire figure, its pretty awesome. I didn't even know you could take her top off until I got it
Got this for $20.Good deal? Bad deal?
Good deal if you like it, I guess. It's pretty cheap for a big model like that, in any case.
I think that was a good deal. It seems like a nice clean model and cute.
Nice Get!
Looks genuine too. I saw a bootleg of this and it had horrid seamlines etc. They wanted £30 for it too!

>>91Generally, if the piece requires a lot of airbrushing, you should do the pieces separately, which it sounds like you're going to do. You should use light even thin coats to get a nice texture when you paint, and you should always watch out for (and avoid if possible) any splotches or beads of paint that might occur. This 'spitting' can be caused by the head not being clean.Once you have the pieces painted with the base color, you can begin adding shading and highlights. My shading and highlighting was done sort of on the fly, so I don't claim to be an expert. I went for large areas when shading because the base coat really could act as your dark tone, with a mid tone added on the raised areas and the light tone added only where needed for highlights. I used a wide-angle spray for the shading and a fairly narrow angle for the highlights, but omg be very careful on how you aim the airbrush and try to adjust the pressure lower so that you aren't laying a thick broad coat when you hit it for the first time. Be gentle and go slowly and carefully.

What do you get when you kit-bash Evil Belldandy and Evil Tsukai (demon) with...
..Holybell? Hopefully I will get..
..THIS. A scene from the OVAs they ran after the second season ended, when Evil Belldandy made her appearance (and gained her demon). It's going to be so FUCKING HARD, but if I pull it off, I'm submitting it to e2046's contest. Now that I have all three kits, I can dig in and start bashing. Or I would..but my index fingers are both still injured and that makes GKs kind of hard to build..damnit.

Oh, and these aren't small kits. This is Tsukai's wing. I'm going to need some SERIOUS reinforcing when I assemble Belldandy, since she's only designed to hold up Tsukai. Holybell's wings are hueg too.
Sounds like a mighty feat. Gogogo!
>>89Thank you! I may be able to work around my fingers, but it's going to slow me down. I will document my progress in this thread.
Suppose a "Post yours" thread is in order.
Spacesuit Girl.
En masse, my Mecha Musume collection.
DesuXBoku, Spacesuit Girl, Bushido Grrrl, Acrued, um, a bunch of other various figures including some Ai Yori Aoshi gashapon bathing figures as well as UFO Princess Valkyrie gashapon bathing figures. Um, probably some D.Gray-man chibi figures too..
Sky Girls!
>>20shit son, win.
I've got 4 more GKs and Raijin enroute from China, along with a hueg stack of GKs just waiting to be converted to win. Raijin is PVC, though. On order, I have nearly all of the GKs for the Pinky Street versions of the RM dolls, one Gin, one Kira, and a Reizin to pair up with Raijin. What I really can't wait for is the release of the VF-25's from Macross Frontier in GK format, but a plastic kit is fine too.
>>20Did you paint and assemble that yourself?
>>37Yes, my adventures in assembling DesuXBoku was documented in the sticky pre-crash. Desu's hair was really giving me a hard time due to how it was made to fit together, and this was my first major GK, so I was learning on the fly, so to speak. This pic is before I assembled Desu's hair to her head, and also before I put her arms on.

So Desu's alive... sort of.Guess what? It has arrived.

Oh God.The foam rolls contain the hair pieces.Everything is generally in very good shape, just a few small holes and bubbles, but that's easy to repair. And it's HUGE. The standing Asuka is 25 cm(10")tall, and the bike is about the same length. I found a thread at a figure collector forum where a pro went through the process of building it in detail, so I'm lucky. But it's a bit depressing too... His painting process was very advanced, so I'll see what I can do with it.He skipped the building of the bike engine and frame though, concentrating on the painting... but I got a few tips, and I should be able to patch it together from the horribly bad instructions and photos from the manufacturer's website. And a bit of guessing.

OH SHI- That kit looks just as epic as I thought it would be. Definitely looking forward to seeing this progress! Oh, and are you going to paint it as directed, or are you going to rework the color scheme to something different? Maybe Desu-themed? :D
I haven't decided yet, I'll try a few combinations in Photoshop, but I'll probably settle to something close to the original. E2046 had a few other nice combos with yellow and camo though.I've cleaned most of the parts up now, but they'll need a lot of filing and puttying to fit seamlessly. I may need to get a heat gun for the larger parts, if they don't fit. Here's how that pro guy did his, with a color scheme from the EVA unit.http://www.hobbyfanatics.com/index.php?act=Print&client=printer&f=18&t=10576The forum thread, if you're interested. Lots of nice tips and advanced methods.

Phew.I've unpacked everything and done the basic cleanup, cut off frame parts and flash etc. I need to go over a lot of parts with sandpaper later. I'll go buy some stuff like fine sandpapers and putty sometime next week, and see if I can find an airbrush for a decent price.I've managed to figure out where most parts should go, but I think the steering handles and instrument panel will be the worst part to assemble. Lots of tiny parts and extremely inadequate instructions, moreso than usual.Watch and weep over the immensity of it all.

Indeed, thanks.I went out to buy some more supplies today...Now I should be all set, except for an airbrush.

Good luck! Can't wait to see it finished. :3
well now that desuchan is back, i can finaly post this like i've been meaning to for a while.I've just started work on a figurine of my own, its my first time doing anything with a figurine (unless you count painting those shitty warhammer 40k things) so i'll be counting on you guys to give me c&c on my figure as i go along. I have all the necessary materials, and i've just finished making the rough shape of the head. I think the right side of the jawline needs to be reduced a bit to make it match, and the whole thing needs to be filed and sanded down.

i think i'll bake it again before starting on the arms and details. this sculpey stuff is extremely useful, it says that it can be re baked as many times as i want, which makes things allot easier.
i've finally gotten around to adding some detail to the back and spinal column.
Looking nice, keep it up :3
here's a pic of the nazi elf this figure is going to be based on. sadly i have no virtual pics, and no scanner anymore, so this will have to do for now.
another image of her, this time with more bang.
does anybody think the head is a tad big? i'm thinking i might use the old guillotine on her and make her a new head. also i still haven't decided what her clothing is going to be like, i was thinking i might make it a nude figure, or at least a have her wearing very little clothing.

>>59thanks, i'm sort of dreading doing the paint job though, i'm not very good with colors. i also sadly have no air brush anymore.i've been wondering, when painting a figure, do you need to shade it? like with a drawing, or do you just color it the right color and let nature do the shading for you?

>>63While "Nazi elf loli" is quite an.. interesting choice, those drawings look really good. And yes, I think the head is a bit large. While painting large surfaces, it's better to paint a lot of very thin layers than a few thick. Makes everything smoother. You can add shades to natural recesses to strengthen the impression, and it generally makes things stand out a bit more, the more the smaller the model is. Highlights should only be applied on edges.
